Helen M. Cousineau

ESCANABA – Helen M. Cousineau, 82, Escanaba, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility.

She was born in Escanaba on Aug. 28, 1931, the daughter of Chauncey and Margaret (Desmond) Besson.

Helen graduated from Escanaba High School in 1949. She married John Cousineau on April 21, 1951, at St. Patrick’s Church in Escanaba.

Helen was an avid reader, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping and going to the casino. She was a member of St. Thomas Church.

She worked at Family Enrichment Bureau and American Greeting until she retired in 2008.

Helen is survived by two daughters, Peggy (Randy) Vincent of Escanaba and Carrie (Jeremy) Carlson of Janesville, Wis.; two sons, Mike (Diane) Cousineau of Rock, Mich., and Tony (Patti) Cousineau of Green Bay, Wis.; sister, Audrey Lamberg of Escanaba; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; brothers, John Besson, Robert Besson, James Besson; and sisters, Arlene LaCarte and Mary Young.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba.

Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 5 p.m. at St. Thomas Church with Rev. Rick Courier officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.

Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Cousineau family.
