Delta County added to governor’s emergency declaration

LANSING – Gov. Rick Snyder directed the Michigan State Police on Wednesday to amend a recent emergency declaration for Marquette County to include Delta County and seven additional northern Michigan counties; the move comes after this winter’s extremely cold temperatures and deep frost levels continue to cause widespread and severe damage to water and sewer mains.

The amended emergency declaration adds the counties of Delta, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Chippewa, Emmet, Gogebic, Luce and Mackinac.

The governor’s declaration authorizes the Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division to coordinate state response and recovery efforts.
