Veterans says thank you to honor flight

This week’s bouquets go to:

From Dorothy Kollmann, Escanaba:

“A bouquet of gratefulness and praise for the U.P. Honor Flight Committee who arranged the latest veteran’s flight to our nation’s capitol to view the military memorials. They arranged a day full of affirmation for the veterans, from family, friends, organizations, school children and finally the whole community for send off and welcoming. It was truly a humbling experience to view our military memorials and to receive all the thanks. From a grateful Korean War veteran.”

From Pam Durbin, R.N, Gladstone Area Schools:

“Please send a bouquet of thanks to Dr. Keeker, all the physicians, nurses, PA’s, NP’s and volunteers that helped provide sports physicals to middle school and high school athletes from Gladstone, Mid Pen and Rapid River last week. This is a wonderful community service for families in the area that happens because of the commitment of volunteers.”

From Allan Blahnik, Jim Gallagher, co-chairs of K of C MI Drive:

“A big thank you to the surrounding communities and the participating stores, for their generous support of the 2014 Knights of Columbus, Council 640, Tootsie Roll MI Drive. Making it another successful year “helping those who can’t help themselves.”

From Gladstone Braves softball coaches, players and parents:

“We would like to send our gratitude to the Gladstone community for their donations to our can drive held on May 4. Your generous donations help make it possible for us to travel to competitive tournaments and cover other necessary expenses each softball season. Thank you for your continued support!”

The Escanaba Township Board:

“The Escanaba Township Board and its residents would like to send a huge thank you to the U.P. Pink Power Organization. They donated an A.E.D. to the township hall as well as one for the new fire hall building. We are sincerely appreciative of their generosity.”

From the Bark River-Harris teachers and support staff:

“On behalf of the Bark River-Harris teachers and support staff, we would like to extend a huge thank you to the Bark River-Harris P.T.O. for a wonderful teacher/staff appreciation week. Your thoughtfulness, time, and energy were much appreciated. We were honored each day with a special surprise. From the beautifully decorated classroom doors, to the delicious luncheon, you made us feel proud to be a Bronco! Our school is a wonderful place because of you! Thank you P.T.O. for all you do.”

From Julie Moberg and Lannie Berg:

“On behalf of the MSU Extension Welcome Newborns program of Delta County, we would like to thank the Great Start volunteers that raised awareness about April’s Child Abuse Prevention Month by selling Pinwheels for Prevention. The KIDS Count data from 2012 shows that 20 percent of Delta County children between the ages of 0-8 were the victims of confirmed child abuse or neglect. A total of $676 was raised and the funds will be used to provide a child abuse prevention education and materials for new parents in Delta County.”
