Assault case set for trial

ESCANABA – An Escanaba man, accused of assaulting a man with a wooden baton in Escanaba last December, is scheduled to go to trial on two felonies in August, according to Delta County Circuit Court officials.

Justin Martin Inglesby, 22, is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (felonious assault) which is a four-year felony with a maximum fine of $2,000. He is also charged with aggravated stalking, a five-year felony with a maximum fine of $10,000.

The charges stem from a Dec. 10, 2013 incident involving a male victim allegedly being assaulted with a wooden baton on the 2400 block of Ludington Street, according to Escanaba Public Safety, the investigating agency.

During a pretrial conference hearing in circuit court last week, Inglesby chose to go to trial rather than make a plea. His trial is set for Aug. 25-26.

He was released from jail after posting bond.
