Two CSC charges are dismissed

ESCANABA – Two felony counts of criminal sexual conduct were dismissed against a 21-year-old Escanaba man during his plea hearing in Delta County Circuit Court last week.

Joseph Richard Williams was arrested last month following an April 7 incident in Wells Township involving a female minor.

Williams was originally charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a victim 13-15 years of age, each a 15-year felony. These counts were dismissed during his plea hearing last Wednesday.

Williams was also charged with one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a victim 13-16 years of age. He pleaded guilty to this two-year high-court misdemeanor and is scheduled to be sentenced June 30 in circuit court.

Williams remains lodged in Delta County Jail.
