Duane Michael Gerou
PERKINS – Duane Michael Gerou, “Mike,” 64 of Perkins, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at the Marquette General Hospital in Marquette.
Duane was born to raise hell June 19, 1949 at his family home in Perkins, the son of Oliver Joseph and Francis Clara (Mastaw) Gerou. He lived most of his life in Perkins and was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. Mike was united in marriage to Lois Rabitoy on Feb. 1, 1974.
Mike was a laborer for all his life and was a power and speed fanatic. His hobbies included observing nature, being outdoors, fishing and swimming. Mike was a family man who loved picnics with his grandkids and enjoyed spending time with his pals Scooby and Rocky.
Aside from his loving wife, survivors include daughters, Jenny (Robert) Lordson of Perkins, Lois (Mark Gaus) Gerou of Brampton; son, Michael Jason (Jenny) Gerou of Gladstone; sister, Mary Catherine (Bill) Brooks of Lake Villa, Ill.; brother, Donald (Deloris) Gerou of Perkins; sister-In-law, Mary Gerou of Perkins; nine grandchildren, Robert, Hawkins, Chelsey, Daniel, Hailey, Holly, Colton, Janessa, and Emily; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles also survive.
In addition to his parents; his brothers, Scott, Gerald, Paul, James, and Stephen; and sister, Janice Gerou preceded Mike in death.
Mike’s family will receive friends on Sunday, June 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone.
