Children warm hearts of veterans

This week’s bouquets go to:

From Dorothy J. Kollmann:

“Bouquets to the school children of the elementary schools. The drawings and thank you messages you prepared for the veterans on Honor Flight VI were priceless. I was so surprised to receive mail from my grown children and then my two great-grandsons from Gwinn and then card after card from children in Gladstone and Escanaba. You are my heroes. Thank you from a happy Korean War veteran.”

From Escanaba Public Library:

The author is unknown, but it was a wise person who said, “Volunteers are love in motion.” The staff of the Escanaba Library could not agree more.

It is the unselfish giving of volunteer time and energy by many volunteers that help lighten the load of the library staff.

There are also other individuals who also give of themselves in their own ways and this bouquet of thanks go out to them as well. It is these people who make the Library blossom and grow.

To these individuals the entire staff says, “I can no other answer make, but thanks and thanks!” (For those who somehow do not remember teachings from High School English Lit…..that was William Shakespeare who said that!)”

From Tommy Ammel:

“Many thanks to the people of the State Bank/U.P. State Bank for the many decades of the time and temperature sign on Ludington Street. Sure do miss it!”

From The Greg Potvin Benefit Committee:

“The Greg Potvin Benefit Committee would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who helped make the benefit a huge success. Whether you donated raffle items, baked for the bake sale, worked the event, bought a Potvin’s Posse t-shirt or showed your support by attending the dinner, we thank you. We are always amazed by the generosity in our community and from our EHS family.”

Each Saturday the Daily Press salutes individuals and groups from our area who have had a very positive impact on the way we live.

We identify our bouquet recipients in one of two ways: from Daily Press news pages and from nominations sent in by our readers.

Mail us a postcard or letter identifying your nomination and putting into detail what they’ve done. Include your name, address, and phone number. Send nominations to Saturday Bouquets, The Daily Press, 600 Ludington Street, Escanaba, MI 49829.

They may also be sent to us by going to our Web site, www.dailypress.net, and clicking on the submit news button. Once there, click on “Bouquets” and follow the simple instructions.
