Local Girl Scout presented with Silver Award

BARK RIVER – Area Girl Scouts were recently honored at a luncheon hosted by the Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes Council. The event included a presentation on leadership by Martha Haynes, Vice President for Advancement at Northern Michigan University.

Earning her Silver Award was Kayton Gagnon of Troop 5232 of Bark River. The Silver Award is the highest award that can be earned by a Cadette Girl Scout requiring 50 hours or more of community service. Kayton’s Silver Award efforts included a project to collect donated socks for campers at Bay Cliff Health Camp in Big Bay.
