Fifth-graders up for reading challenge
Students in Sue Gannon’s fifth-grade at the Escanaba Upper Elementary School completed the 30 Book Challenge this school year. There were 13 students who read 30 or more books in various genres. A total of 506 books were read by these students while a total of 684 books were read by the entire class. Top readers are: from left front, Emma Johnson, Ally Jackson, Abbie Derouin, Kyra Magnuson, and Holly Chenier; in back are Marlene Deloria, Keeley Pomeroy, Brianna Hejmej, Bobby Morin, Tanner McDonald, Maysie Lancour, Gia Economopolous, and Ty Peterson. Gannon stressed that reading is a life-long skill that needs to be practiced on a daily basis.
