Joseph A. ‘Joe’ ‘Yo-yo’ Liss
ESCANABA – Joseph A. “Joe” “Yo-yo” Liss, 52, of 1018 2nd Ave S., #3, Escanaba, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born on July 14, 1961, in Escanaba, the son of Robert Liss and Marilyn (McInnis) Smith. Joe was raised in Escanaba and graduated from Escanaba High School in 1979.
Joe worked for a variety of businesses as an auto body mechanic including Frankie’s Auto Body, Jerry’s Auto Body, amongst others, and also owned and operated J & K Auto Body.
He loved to build model cars and planes, riding his motorcycle, painting and writing poetry. He also loved spending time with his family, especially all of his children.
Survivors include: his children, Joshua (Serena) Liss of Portland, Ore., Jenna (Jason) Moua of Green Bay, Wis., Kristin Naylor of Madison, Wis., Joey Lantagne and Jared Lantagne of Escanaba; grandson, Treo Moua of Green Bay, Wis.; his parents, Robert (Birdie) Liss of Escanaba and Marilyn (Ron) Smith of Escanaba; and two brothers, James (Julie) Liss of Bark River and Jon (Amy) Liss of Escanaba.
Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents and brother, Jerome “Jerry” Liss.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 20, 2014, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The funeral service will follow at 4:30 p.m. with Major Leonard White officiating. A meal will follow in the funeral home dining area.
The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Liss family with arrangements.
