‘Anniecat’ author plans book-signing

ESCANABA – Author of “Anniecat Chronicles,” Joan Rust and cover artist, Darlene N. Prokos, will be doing a book signing on Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at Book World in the Delta Plaza Mall, Escanaba.

YMCA offers blood sugar screen

ESCANABA – Northern Lights YMCA Delta Center will host a blood sugar screen in Escanaba today from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at Northern Lights YMCA. The screen is sponsored by OSF St. Francis Hospital.

This event is free to members and $5 for general public. Registration is not required. To obtain more information, call the YMCA front desk at 789-0005.

Easter in June at Pioneer Trail Park

ESCANABA – Come celebrate Easter in June at Pioneer Trail Park on Saturday. Children’s festivities will start at 1 p.m. and include an Easter Egg Hunt with various prizes, egg coloring/decorating, and a presentation from U.P. Raptor Rehabilitation and Wildlife Center.

Scenic Shore Run Saturday in Gladstone

GLADSTONE – The Scenic Shore Run/Walk (5K run, 1 mile walk) will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Gladstone Senior Center. Registration is from 9-9:45 a.m.

Poultry/lifestock swap set for 6-21

TRENARY – Great Northern Poultry and Livestock Connection (GNPLC) is having their second swap of the 2014 season at Holmquist Feed Mill in Trenary on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

GNPLC members may sell free of charge; cost for non-members is $5.

Membership is $15 per year/per family. A silent auction will run from 10 a.m. until noon. Donations for the auction are accepted and appreciated. A 50/50 raffle, music by Maude, and concessions/bake goods are available.

World Hunger Run/Walk set for June 21

GLADSTONE – The 30th annual Gladstone World Hunger 5K Run/Walk is scheduled for Saturday. The run/walk will start and finish at All Saints Church at the corner of Michigan Avenue and Eighth Street. A pancake breakfast will be served after the event.

Awards are presented to top three runners in each age division. Door prizes will be drawn during the breakfast.

Barbershop concert Saturday in Gladstone

GLADSTONE – An Evening of Barbershop Harmony will take place on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Gladstone Senior Center, 303 North 8th Street. The Remnants Chorus, The Grace Notes Gospel Singers and The Next Generation bands will be providing music.

Cost is $5 with limited seating available. For tickets, call Bonnie at 428-9412. Free cookies and punch will follow the concert.
