Hakkola is U of M honors graduate
ANN ARBOR – Alexander A. Hakkola graduated with Honors (cum laude) from the University of Michigan on May 3 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
An active member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) for all four years, Alex held multiple officer positions and was president of IEEE University of Michigan Student Branch during his senior year. The graduate was also an active member of HKN (Eta Kappa Nu), an Honor’s Society, and EPEIANS, a Leader’s Society, and a member of a few other societies.
The son of Jack and Bonnie Hakkola of Escanaba, Alex is the grandson of Virginia Hakkola of Eben Junction and the late Arvo Hakkola. He is also the grandson of the late Jacob and Irene (Prusi) Hintsala of Republic.
Alex graduated from Escanaba Area High School in 2010. His future plans include working for Silicon Laboratories in Austin, Texas, as he begins his job there in July of this year.
Jorasz named to Hiram College deans list
HIRAM, Ohio – Scott Joras of Bark River is one of more than 250 undergraduate students who were named to the Hiram College Dean’s List for Spring 2014. The Dean’s List honors students who take at least 12 credit hours and maintain a GPA of a 3.5.
