Richard H. Finlan

OLATHE, Kan. – Richard H. Finlan, son of Patrick and Mildred Finlan of Chemical Location between Escanaba and Gladstone, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014, in Olathe, Kansas, where he lived with his wife, Patty.

He was born Aug. 3, 1940, in Delta County. Rick was a three-time veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served long-range recon duty behind enemy lines on all three tours. Since retiring from the military, they established a dog kennel with the state of Kansas, so they could house rescued Yorkshires and, Rick’s favorite, tundra wolves.

Survived by brothers, Bill, Wells Township, Pat, Slidell, La., Mike of Linwood, Mich.; Roger, Omaha, Neb., Dennis, Escanaba (deceased 1952); sisters, Lorraine, Wells Township (deceased 2005); Mary, Omaha, Neb., Della, Nocona, Texas, Kay, Escanaba, Carol, Forth Worth, Texas., Sue, San Luis Obispo, Calif.
