plans get-together

ESCANABA – The Escanaba High School Class of 1969 will host an informal get-together on Thursday, July 3, starting at 5 p.m. at the Ford River Pub.

Food and drink will be available at the classmate’s expense. For more information, call Gerry at 786-8880.

Holiday hours at

Gladstone Library

GLADSTONE – The Gladstone Public Library 4th of July Holiday Hours are Thursday, July 3, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; closed on Friday through Sunday.

Summer hours will resume July 7, Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Hermansville to

celebrate July 4

HERMANSVILLE – A July 4th celebration will be held on Saturday, July 5, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Hermansville. The parade will begin at 11 a.m.

There will be an antique car show, cash raffle, live music featuring John Whitens and Friends, and food and beverages will be available.

The annual mud runs registration is from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon (CST), and the races to start at 12:30 p.m.

The events are sponsored by Meyer Township Fire Department.

Mead Retirees to

meet Wednesday

ESCANABA – The Mead Retirees group will meet on Wednesday at the Union Hall on Sheridan Road at 10 a.m. Refreshments will be provided and there will be cards and a 50/50 drawing.

All Mead retirees are invited to attend. The group meets the first Wednesday of every month.

FLAT ROCK – The American Legion Post 115 Escanaba River (Flat Rock) will meet Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Flat Rock Town Hall.

Firecracker Run/Walk

set for July 4

GLADSTONE – The Firecracker 5 Mile Run/2.5 Mile Walk, sponsored by the Gladstone Kiwanis, the City of Gladstone, and Bink’s Coca-Cola, is scheduled for Friday, July 4. Registration is from 6:30-7:45 a.m. with the race to start at 8 from the large pavilion located across from the Michigan State Police Post.

Pre-registration is encouraged and forms are available at the Delta County Chamber of Commerce, YMCA and Gladstone City Hall and online at www.gladstonemi.org.

All age groups are encouraged to enter and the race fee includes a t-shirt while supplies last. Trophies will be awarded to the Best Overall Male and Female runners, with medals going to first, second and third-place finishers in the various age categories.

A new category for walkers has been added. It will be a 2.5 mile walk.

Cost for runners is $20 for pre-registration and $25 on the day of the race. Cost for ages 17 and under is $15 for pre-registration and $20 on race day. T-shirts are guaranteed to pre-registers in the 5 mile run. The walkers are not guaranteed a shirt).

Taco Tuesday at

Legion Post 71

GLADSTONE – American Legion Post 71 welcomes the public to Taco Tuesday with serving from 4:30-6:30 p.m. each week at the Gladstone Legion Hall, 802 Delta Ave. Both hard and soft tacos are available, along with nachos and nachos supreme. The community is welcome to attend.

All proceeds from the June taco sales will go towards replacing the ceiling in the Legion Hall.

Volunteers needed

to remove flags

HERMANSVILLE – Volunteer workers are needed to take down 94 American Flags at the Meyer Township Cemetery in Hermansville on Thursday, July 10. The work bee starts at 5 p.m.
