Annual Golf Outing

Aug. 1 at the Highland

ESCANABA – The U.P. Labor-Management Council, Inc. has selected the Highland Golf Course, Escanaba, as the host site for its Annual Golf Outing. The annual four-person scramble has been scheduled for Friday, Aug. 1. The shotgun start will begin at 9 a.m.

Entry fee includes golf (18 holes), cart, continental breakfast, lunch, beverages and prizes. A $10,000 cash prize for a hole-in-one on a target par three-hole is once again being offered this year. Complimentary auxiliary prizes are also being awarded for hole-in-ones on any of the non-target par three holes.

Kennel Club meeting

set for Thursday

ESCANABA – The Bay De Noc Kennel Club will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Kennel Club building located next to the Delta Area Animal Shelter. The October UKC Agility to be held in the Ruth Butler building will be discussed.

Public Health clinics

set for July 14-18

ESCANABA – The health clinic schedule at Public Health of Delta County for the week of July 14-18 include:

Monday – WIC;

Tuesday – Immunizations (late night) and Family Planning (late night);

Wednesday – WIC (late night) and Medical Exam;

Thursday – Medical Exam;

Friday – WIC, Family Planning, and Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP).

All clients are seen by appointment only. Evening and Saturday appointments are available for some clinics. In Delta County, call (906) 786-4111 about any of these services, in Menominee County, call (906) 863-4451.

Suicide Survivors

Group to meet Thursday

ESCANABA – The Suicide Survivor’s Support Group will meet 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday at Central United Methodist Church, 322 Lincoln Road in Escanaba. The support group is for anyone who is grieving the loss of a family member or friend who has died from suicide.

‘Every Act of Love Tour’

ESCANABA – The “Every Act of Love” Tour is Coming to Escanaba. Tai Chi at Escanaba

Senior Center

ESCANABA – The Escanaba Senior Center announces Tai Chi for Health/Fall Prevention and Seated Tai Chi on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. The program presented at the Center has been shown through extensive research to help prevent falls and improve health and the quality of life. It has been recognized as an evidenced based exercise by the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for falls prevention.

VFW Post open to

veterans and families

ESCANABA – VFW Post 2998 Hall is open to area residents for various activities from Tuesday through Saturday at 6 p.m. The organization offers free billiards, as well as cribbage (partners) each Thursday at 7 p.m.

The VFW Hall is available to the public, not only for monthly meetings and activities, but also as a rental for weddings, bridal or baby showers.

VFW is a non-profit organization that helps local veterans and their families. The hall is located at 904 Sheridan Road in Escanaba. For more information, contact Joe at (906) 233-7173.
