ESCANABA – The Northern Lights YMCA Delta Center will be hosting a “Ask the Experts” in Escanaba on Wednesday, July 16. The topic will be, “Healthy Eating Tips” led by Linda Klope, OSF. This event will be held at the YMCA from 5-7 p.m.

Heart of the North

Lions to meet tonight

BARK RIVER – The Heart of the North Lions Club general club monthly meeting will be at 6:45 p.m. today at the Bark River Township Senior Center.

The Heart of the North Lions Club is part of the world’s largest service organization, Lions Clubs International. Lions are men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to help fill those needs.

VASA planning


ESCANABA – Members of Escanaba VASA will hold their monthly meeting/luncheon at the Central United Methodist Church at 322 South Lincoln Road at 2 p.m., Sunday. Chuck and Heidi Londo will host the occasion.

Sunday dance at Rock

Community Center

ROCK – A dance will be held at the Rock Community/Senior Center on Sunday, July 13, from 1 to 5 p.m. Music will be provided by “Ron Jay & The Country Strangers.”

Door cost is $5 per person. A free-will donation lunch will be available.

Breakfast & craft show

July 13 in Rapid River

RAPID RIVER – Vendors and crafters are welcome to take part in the Second Sunday Breakfast Show on July 13 at American Legion Post 301 in Rapid River. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon.

The breakfast menu includes scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, French toast, hashbrowns, sausage and ham. Cost is $7.

Salad Luncheon and

Tour in Garden

GARDEN – Village Artisans of Garden will host its annual Salad Luncheon and Tour on Saturday, July 19. Featured on this year’s tour will be a spectacular Quilt Show hosted at the Congregational Church. Displayed by Friendship Quilters of Garden, the Quilt Show will include old family favorites as well as new work done by the group. Tickets for the Artisans raffle in September will be on sale at the Gallery.

A special feature this year for the men will be two woodworking shops. Charlie Thelander’s shop on State Street was begun by his father-in-law many years ago. The shop belonging to Dennis Winter was recently built and includes many unique features designed by Dennis for efficiency and comfort.

For those who love old things and stories, the Historical Museum is the place to visit. New items are frequently added and visitors will have a chance to win a prize basket containing a copy of “Our Heritage” and the collection of newsletters, The Peninsula Historian.”

Tickets and brochure may be obtained at the Garden Gallery on State Street beginning at 10 a.m. on the 19th. The donation is $10. The tour will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Luncheon will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. John Hall.

Proceeds from the event help to sponsor the art/enrichment programs in the community sponsored by the Village Artisans.
