ESCANABA – Ted Flum, 69, of 427 South 13th Street, Escanaba, and also Nahma, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, July 10, 2014, at home of an apparent heart attack.
Ted was born Sept. 19, 1944, in Nicollet County, Minn., the son of Andrew and Margaret (Gutzmer) Flum Sr. He was raised in the St. Peter and St. Cloud areas of Minnesota and later graduated from Port Huron High School.
Ted was united in marriage to the former Sarah Ferguson on Feb. 18, 1971, in Maui, Hawaii. They later resided in the Port Huron and St. Clair area. He worked as a mechanic and roofer. He also delivered the Shopper in St. Clair for many years. They relocated to Escanaba in 1999 when Sarah was hired at Bay de Noc Community College.
Ted enjoyed riding motorcycles, traveling and reading. He also enjoyed working in the yard and on his tractors and motorcycles.
In addition to his wife, Sarah, survivors include: sons, Brad and David Flum of St. Clair, Mich.; granddaughter, Amber Flum of St. Clair, Mich.; brothers, Andrew (Carmen) Flum Jr., Richard Flum and James Flum, all of Minnesota; sisters, Alice (Wayne) Hunnicutt of Arkansas, Hope (Wade) Hayes of Minnesota, Faith Flum of Minnesota, Peggy Flum of Minnesota, and Patsy Flum of Texas. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at a later date in St. Clair, Mich. at the First Congregational Church, U.C.C. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Escanaba and Gladstone are assisting the Flum family.
