Teens nabbed for stealing from vehicles

ESCANABA – Two teens were recently lodged at the local juvenile detention center after they were caught allegedly stealing items from a vehicle parked in Escanaba earlier this week.

According to Escanaba Public Safety, the owner of the vehicle witnessed the two girls taking things from his truck while it was parked on the 1300 block of Ludington Street during the early morning hours on Wednesday.

Police were dispatched to the scene around 12:30 a.m. The two suspects were apprehended and lodged in Bay Pines. Their cases are pending in Delta County Probate Court.

Each girl is charged with theft from a motor vehicle, possession of controlled substances, obstructing a police officer, and a health and safety violation, according to the police report.

Items taken from the truck included several DVD movies, X-box games, and other items, said police who are investigating other larcenies which may be related to this case.
