Woman charged in construction worker accident in Breitung
BREITUNG TWP – Charges were filed Friday against a Quinnesec woman who fled after striking a construction worker with a vehicle Thursday morning.
At 9:40 a.m. Thursday a Michigan State Police Trooper from the Iron Mountain Post entered a fully marked construction zone while on patrol on US-2 near 3rd Street in Breitung Township in Dickinson County. While in the construct zone, the trooper witnessed a construction worker dressed in full reflective gear fall to the ground after being struck by a west bound vehicle on US-2.
The vehicle fled the scene and was pursued and stopped by the trooper. The driver, Andrea Drawski, 34, of Quinnesec, was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated causing serious injury and failing to stop and identify at the scene of a personal injury crash. A preliminary examination is scheduled for Friday, July 25 at 10 a.m. CDT in the 95-A District Court of Dickinson County.
The construction worker, Kenneth Thompson, 54 of Saginaw, was transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital by Beacon Ambulance. He was treated for minor injuries including possible neck injuries and released.
Troopers were assisted by the Iron Mountain Police Department and advanced crash investigators from the Iron Mountain Post.
