Beverly Julia Dupey

ESCANABA – Beverly Julia Dupey, 91, of Escanaba, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 12, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born Aug. 17, 1922, the daughter of Elmer and Blanche Walker. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Fern Dupey, in 2004; daughter, Arlene Behlendorf; parents, Elmer and Blanche Walker; stepfather, Ernest Lacrosse; sister, Betty Wagner; and brother, Elmer Walker.

Bev was a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic School in Escanaba, worked for the Escanaba school system, was a Girl Scout leader, long-standing member of Daughters of Isabella, and loved to camp and travel. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Escanaba Country Club, member of St. Joseph and St. Anne’s Catholic Parish, and retired in Edinburgh, Texas, moving back to Escanaba in 2003 where they called West Highland Apartments their home. Bev was known to live every day to the fullest. She never said “can’t” and made an effort to help at least one person every day.

She is survived by her children, Dale of McFarland, Mich., Alan (Linda) of Oshkosh, Wis., Brian (Diane) of Escanaba, Karen (Jim) Dombrowski of Escanaba, Dennis (Deborah) of Flippin, Ark., and Carol (Martin) Payne of Spring Lake, Mich.; 17 grandchildren, Shawn and Shane Behlendorf, Jennifer LaChance, Chris and Greg Dupey, Jeff, David and Michelle Dupey, Melissa LaFleur, Bryan Dupey, Eric, Jeff and Mike Dombrowski, Jessica and Jami Dupey, and Mitchell and Connor Payne; and 19 great-grandchildren.

A memorial mass will be held Tuesday, July 15, at 11 a.m., followed by a reception luncheon at St. Anne’s Catholic Parish.
