Altrusans announce new member

GLADSTONE – The Altrusa Club welcomed new member, Jenine Maloney, of Gladstone, at their July dinner meeting at the Terrace. Maloney said she is excited about getting involved in the various Altrusa community projects and is joining the Literacy Committee, in keeping with her interest in working with books and children.

She is already attending the twice monthly Altrusa Sewing Bees, crafting Book Buddy softies for Head Start children.

Membership in Altrusa is open to women who are proactive in their community, committed to the philosophy of unselfishness and the joy of giving rather than getting. The group has many community projects including Story programs at the public libraries and Head Start classrooms, Community Book Boxes, and the popular Career Clothes Closet.

Members also provide support to Pregnancy Services, Hope at the Inn, Safe Harbor Shelter, Little League Girls Team, and the Altrusa House in Green Bay.
