Police seek information on U.P. shooting, crash

NEGAUNEE – Detectives from the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post are requesting the public’s assistance following last week’s officer-involved shooting and car crash that resulted in the death of an Alger County man.

Detectives are looking for anyone who came into contact with the deceased, Timothy Mitchell, 47, during the day of the July 14 incident.

Detectives are working on establishing a timeline of events surrounding the incident and seeking information on anyone who might have had contact with Mitchell during that time frame. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Sgt. Paul Campbell or Det. Sgt. Chris Croley at the Michigan State Police Post in Negaunee at (906) 475-9922. The investigation into the incident is ongoing and further information will be released at the conclusion of the investigation, police said.
