Support for Parks

Steve Parks put the walleye fishery in Little Bay De Noc on the road to recovery a few years ago with his successful prosecution of three men who conspired to sell fish netted in the bay by subsistence fishers. Their activities were making a mockery of treaty rights, and Steve pushed forward with the prosecution in spite of the claims by many that it couldn’t be done because of the Consent Decree.

The successful prosecution strategy developed by Steve was a product of his many years of experience, resourcefulness, hard work, and vast legal knowledge. The case had important and far reaching implications. It may have been the most significant case ever tried in the Delta County District Court. It was applauded by sport fishing associations across the state.

The conspiracy prosecution also showcased the qualities that will make Steve an excellent district court judge: decisiveness, perseverance, organization, attention to detail, firmness, and concern for the community. He deserves our support on Aug. 5.”
