Scholarship checks

available at EHS

ESCANABA – The Escanaba Area Public Schools administration office announced scholarship checks for graduates are available for pick up at the business office. The business office is located on the second floor of the Upper Elementary School across from the auditorium. (Enter through the Ludington Street front door.)

Freshman scholarship recipients must bring a copy of their full-time class schedule with their name and the name of college printed on the schedule in order to receive the scholarship check.

All returning recipients must bring a copy of their report card or transcript on which the student’s name and college is printed for the previous semester.

Anyone with questions is asked to call 786-8502.

Summer hours for the business office are: Monday-Thursday 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.; Friday 7:15 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Playgroups offered

in Hermansville

HERMANSVILLE – Play groups are being offered at North Central Elementary School in Hermansville this summer. They are scheduled to take place each Monday from 9:30-11 a.m. and are open to children between the ages of 1 and 4.

The next scheduled session is Aug. 4.

The groups will provide an opportunity for parents to play with their child and to socialize with other parents and children. The event will feature stories, music, crafts, snacks and playtime.

This is a free event for all Menominee County residents and is sponsored by the Menominee County Intermediate School District’s Early On Program. For more information, call (906) 863-5665, ext. 1040.

Mead Retirees to

host potluck lunch

ESCANABA – The Mead Retirees will hold their summer potluck lunch on Tuesday, Aug. 5, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Mead Rod and Gun Club. Lunch will begin at noon. All Mead retirees are welcome to attend.

Those with last names beginning with the letters “A” through “I” are asked to bring a salad, “J” through “R” a dessert, and “S” through “Z” a hot dish. There will be a 50/50 drawing and door prizes at the event.

Gladstone Legion offers

free medical equipment

GLADSTONE – The Gladstone American Legion Post 71 has many home medical equipment items in its Loan Locker. All equipment is loaned out free of charge to individuals in need in Gladstone and throughout the area.

Membership in the Legion is not required for participation.

Available items include hospital beds, wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, shower seats and bedside commodes. To borrow an item, call the Gladstone Legion, 428-1050, after 1 p.m. or stop by at 802 Delta Ave.

The Legion is currently in need of wheelchairs, shower chairs, and commodes.
