BRAMPTON – The Days River Lion’s Club will host a new farmers market at the Brampton/Days River Lion’s Club just off M-35 in Brampton (watch for signs). The market will include fresh fruits and vegetables, farm-fresh eggs, back goods, fresh-baked artisan breads, Days River Lion’s fresh pasties, and much more.
Markets will be held weekly each Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. Craft and flea-market vendors are welcome.

MARQUETTE – The MGH Ore to Shore Mountain Bike Epic invites families to participate in the Re/Max Fastest Family challenge during the events on Saturday, Aug. 9.
The ReMax Fastest Family awards are open to families entering three or more immediate family members (living in the same household) in any combination of the four-mile, 10, 28, or 48-mile races.
Trophies and cash prizes will be awarded to the Top five overall, families with the fastest average speed (total combined miles/ total combined time).
The top five fastest families will win awards and prize money which will be presented at the awards ceremony. Awards are: first – $200, second – $160, third – $120, fourth – $80, and fifth – $40.
Weather permitting, the ReMax Realty team will be launching the ReMax Hot Air Balloon at 7 p.m. at the Ore to Shore Friday night Expo.
The Ore to Shore offers races that are 48 miles, 28 miles, 10 miles, 4 miles, 1 mile and 50 yards.

ESCANABA – Helping the friends and neighbors by bringing aid to the local community is the goal of the Christian Closet.
This is a new benevolent mission of the Escanaba Church of Christ that will bring aid to the families in need of food, clothing, and daily living supplies.
Families and individuals in need will be welcome to visit the Christian Closet and select from an assortment of gently used clothing and shoes of all sizes, non-perishable food items, household supplies, and so much more. Everything will be available free of charge to those in need.
The Christian Closet can be found at the Escanaba Church of Christ building located in Soo Hill at 5079 18th Road, Escanaba.
The Christian Closet is on the first Wednesday of every month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Mead Retirees to
host potluck lunch
ESCANABA – The Mead Retirees will hold their summer potluck lunch on Tuesday, Aug. 5, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Mead Rod and Gun Club. Lunch will begin at noon.
All Mead retirees are welcome to attend.
Those with last names beginning with the letters “A” through “I” are asked to bring a salad, “J” through “R” a dessert, and “S” through “Z” a hot dish.
There will also be a 50/50 drawing and door prizes available at the event.
