plans brat sale

ESCANABA – The Escanaba Robotic Team will conduct a brat sale on Friday, Aug. 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Elmers County Market.

‘Coffee With a Cop’

set for Aug. 13

HERMANSVILLE – Residents are encouraged to join officers from the Michigan State Police Gladstone Post for “Coffee With A Cop” on Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 11:30 a.m. (CST) at the Hermansville Senior Center.

Participants will have the opportunity to meet the representatives from the State Police and discuss issues relevant to the community.

St. Anthony Pasty Sale

set for Aug. 13 & 14

ESCANABA -St. Anthony’s Church is having a pasties sale on Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 13 and 14, from noon to 5 p.m. Cost is $4 each (while supplies last).

Pasties can be picked up at St. Thomas Church in Escanaba.

Parade floats needed

for Rock Labor Day

ROCK – Parade floats are needed for the 71st Annual Rock Labor Day Celebration in Rock on Saturday, Aug. 30. There is no entry fee and prizes will be awarded.

The parade begins at 11 a.m. with Bingo at noon, flea market and craft vendors, concessions and games on the Midway. A raffle drawing is at 5 p.m.

Ford River Lions

to host fish boil

FORD RIVER – The Ford River Lion’s 52nd Annual Fish Boil and Croatian Chicken Feed on Sunday, Aug. 10, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Ford River Lions Clubhouse. The event will take place rain or shine.

Cost is $12 for the fish and $10 for chicken.

The clubhouse is located on M-35 in Ford River (look for sign).

Health screenings for

women available

ESCANABA – Public Health, Delta & Menominee Counties is offering screenings for women through its Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program and the Women’s Health Clinic. Appointments are available to women in need of Breast and Pelvic Exams, Pap test, and Mammograms.

Upcoming clinic in Escanaba is Monday, Aug. 25, and in Menominee on Tuesday, Aug. 12.

BCCCP Screening services are free of charge through the Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program. Women must be ages 40-64, meet income guidelines, and have no health insurance or are underinsured.

WISEWOMAN services include screening for cholesterol, blood pressure, & glucose. Lifestyle counseling is also available.

The Women’s Health Clinic also offers these services for clients age 40 to 64. Insurance or Medicaid will be billed.

Altrusa to host

‘Tropical Affair’

ESCANABA – The Altrusa Club will hold its next meeting at the Lake Bluff Retirement Village Center on Monday, Aug. 11. It will be a “Tropical Affair” featuring food and fun.

Altrusa International is a volunteer service group with a focus on literacy. Interested community members are invited to attend.
