Eagles to host

monthly breakfast

ESCANABA – Escanaba Eagles 1088 will serve breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the Eagles hall located at 608 Ludington Street. Menu includes scrambled eggs, sausage, ham, toast, hash browns, pancakes, French toast, coffee, milk and orange juice.

Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. The breakfast is open to the public.

Playgroups offered

in Hermansville

HERMANSVILLE – Play groups are being offered at North Central Elementary School in Hermansville this summer. They are scheduled to take place each Monday from 9:30-11 a.m. and are open to children between the ages of 1 and 4.

The next scheduled session is Aug. 18.

The groups will provide an opportunity for parents to play with their child and to socialize with other parents and children. The event will feature stories, music, crafts, snacks and playtime.

This is a free event for all Menominee County residents and is sponsored by the Menominee County Intermediate School District’s Early On Program. For more information, call (906) 863-5665, ext. 1040.

Rock Lions to host

breakfast buffet

ROCK – The Rock Lions monthly Third-Sunday, all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet will take place on, Sunday, Aug. 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rock Lions Club located on M-35. The buffet includes eggs prepared to order and omelets, bacon, sausage, ham, fried potatoes, biscuits and sausage gravy, pancakes, French toast, English muffins, cereal, a variety of fruits, lots of dessert items, and coffee, tea, milk and juice.

Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children 6-12. Children 5 and under are free of charge.

The Rock Lions Club is a non-profit service organization that provides funding for charitable organizations and local needs.

Labor Day celebration

ROCK – Flea market and craft vendors are needed for the 71st Annual Rock Labor Day Celebration in Rock on Saturday, Aug. 30. The event begins with the parade at 11 a.m., Bingo at noon, flea market and craft vendors, concessions, and games on the Midway. A raffle drawing is at 5 p.m.

K-Dance Express

offers free classes

ESCANABA – K-Dance Express Dance Studio will be holding three free dance classes to new students for boys and girls ages 3 and 4 who are not enrolled in K-Dance. The classes will be held Tuesday through Thursday, Aug. 19-21.

Classes consist of learning basic motor skills and dance steps, and using musical instruments.

Morning sessions are from 10:30-11:30 with afternoon sessions running from 1-2.

To register for either sessions or for more information, call Kalisa LaVigne at 233-7313. Fall classes will begin Sept. 10.

Scout Day at the

UP State Fair is coming

ESCANABA – The Scouts are guests of the U.P. State Fair on Sunday Aug. 17. This year, as part of the annual Scout Day at the Fair, all Scouts in uniform will get free admittance to the Fair when accompanied with an adult.

All Scouts (Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and all of the Girl Scouts) will be at the State Fair in the activities tent showing off the fun things which are going on in Scouting. Scouts will be performing “hands-on” activities so the fair-goers get a real feel for scouting. The Scouts of Troop 411 will be cooking in Dutch ovens, setting up a model campsite, and doing rope-making.
