John (Jack) O’Driscoll
SUN CITY, Ariz. – John (Jack) O’Driscoll went to be with his heavenly Father on Aug. 11, 2014. He was born Oct. 26, 1924, to Nettie (McFee) and James O’Driscoll in Lincoln Park, Mich. He grew up in Lincoln Park and spent his summers in the Weatherby, Miss., area. He served in World War II as a radio mechanic in the Air Force, receiving distinguished medals for serving in Central Europe. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He worked in various occupations until he found the career of his dreams as a firefighter in Kansas City, Mo. He was quickly promoted to fire captain and in later years worked as a firefighting instructor at KI Sawyer Air Force Base, retiring in 1976. He brought his family to Grand Marais, Mich., in the 1960s. Jack loved spending time between his camp in Grand Marais, Mich., and Sun City, Ariz. He enjoyed hunting and traveling the woods in Grand Marais since the 1940s. He also loved going to the casinos and spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean, with whom he raised four sons; his parents; sons, John Michael and Dan O’Driscoll; and brother, James O’Driscoll.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Janice (Jay) O’Driscoll of Sun City, Ariz.; Barry (Becky) O’Driscoll of Bark River; Terry (Terri) O’Driscoll of Muskegan; very special daughter-in-law, Terri Jean O’Driscoll (David Paradise) of Manistique; very special grandson, John James O’Driscoll; and his wife, Diana of Escanaba; grandson, Steve (Kelly Smith) of Gladstone; Aaron O’Driscoll of Sault St Marie; granddaughters, Alissa and Madison O’Driscoll of Bark River, Bridget O’Driscoll, Jamie, and Chelsea O’Driscoll of Escanaba; great-grandchildren, Evan, Ethan O’Driscoll, Devon Eckberg, Ashley, and Mitchell Kelly of Escanaba; Cassie, Jackie, and Brianna O’Driscoll of Gladstone; very special family members, Leroy and Judy Brazeau of Gladstone, Marcia and Jim Antol of Goodyear, Ariz.; very special cousins, Mel (Betty) McFee of Weatherby, Mo., Emma Escott of Tecumseh, Mich., and Carol Peebles of Arizona City, Ariz.; and many more family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Private services will be held by the family.
