Benefit planned for

Sheila Sanville

GLADSTONE – A breakfast benefit will be held for Sheila Sanville on Saturday, Aug. 23, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the American Legion in Gladstone.

Sanville was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. Her family and friends are hosting a breakfast to help offset travel and medical expenses. Sanville, a long-time teacher in the community, both Big Bay de Noc and North Central Schools, resides in Gladstone with her husband, Ed, and son.

The menu includes pancakes, sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy, potatoes, ham, eggs, sweets, coffee, and juice. The benefit will also feature 50/50 raffles, a door prize, and bucket raffles.

A $9 donation includes breakfast and entry for a door prize. Children under 5 are free of charge.

Harbor Fest planned for

Aug. 22-23 in Marquette

MARQUETTE – Marquette West Rotary presents Harbor Fest is scheduled to take place on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 22 and 23. Admission is free.

Food and draft beer will be available at the Mattson Lower Harbor Park (no carry-ins). Music will be provided by Bumpus from Chicago and Night Prowler, an AC/DC tribute band, plus many local bands.

Other attractions are kids’ inflatables, a classic car show, and the South Shore Fishing Tournament. Participants are encouraged to bring their own lawn chair.

Caregivers group meets

IRON MOUNTAIN – A Michigan State Police Open House is to be held at the Iron Mountain Post on US-2 in Iron Mountain on Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to see a Vintage Patrol Vehicle, Drive Team, Bomb Squad, MSP Helicopter, SWAT Team, K-9, Lab Services, Recruiters, DNR, Motor Carrier Division, Child Car Seat Checks, and more.

Raffles will be held for a chance to win prizes.

Retired Teamsters to

meet Aug. 20 in Esky

ESCANABA – The Teamsters Retirees Club of Delta County will meet Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Escanaba Civic Center located at 225 North 21st. Street. Lunch will be served at noon, followed by the meeting at 12:30 p.m. Lunch menu is beef and been enchiladas, Spanish rice, and cooked apples.

All retired Teamsters are welcome. A 50/50 drawing will be held.

YMCA group fitness

session starts soon

ESCANABA – A five-week session of group exercise programming has begun at the Northern Lights YMCA Delta program center. Available classes include: gravity straps and core strength; guts, glutes and thighs; sit and get fit; water aerobics; Zumba; indoor cycling; cycle and scult; various boot camp; and yoga classes. Classes are offered at varying fitness levels, times, locations, and days.
