Former resident named Teacher of the Year finalist
ANTIOCH, Calif. – Freedom High School, Antioch, Calif., teacher Michael Kleiman has been named as a 2014-15 Contra Costa County Teacher of the Year finalist.
Representing the Liberty Union High School District, Kleiman teaches English, theater arts, and speech and debate. He is also the advisor to Center Stage, Freedom’s performing arts club that produces plays, skits, and musicals throughout the school year.
He is one of four finalists for the Teacher of the Year honor. The winner will be named in September
Kleiman is a 2002 graduate of Escanaba Area High School. He and his wife, the former Stephanie Palequin, are the parents of two children, Joel and Liam.
He is the son of Mark and Elizabeth Kleiman of Gladstone, and grandson of Dave and Carol Featheringill, the late Catherine Featheringill, Evelyn and the late Ted Kleiman.
