Volunteers help U.P. Steam and Gas Engine Association

This week’s bouquets go to:

From the U.P. Steam and Gas Engine Association:

The U.P. Steam and Gas Engine Association says thank you. The U.P. State Fair for 2014 was a huge success. The U.P. Steam and Gas Engine Association is a proud supporter of the fair.

So much of the success is due to the volunteers and donations throughout the week. The Association would like to thank those who so graciously gave their time and talents as well as the soup from a number of local restaurants, to be served each day in the Cook Shack. What a great community we live in. We appreciate all of you. Volunteers also helped in the village shops, the sawmill, and museum throughout the week. Everyone is sincerely appreciated.

Our goal is to preserve the historic values of times past. Through demonstrations and education we share these values with young and old. Please come to the 39th Annual Steam and Gas Engine Show on Aug. 29 through Sept. 1 for a “Step Back in Time.”

From: Carol Butryn, Escanaba, and Kay Hughes, Orlando, Fla.

Thanks Bay Jazz Band. Such great entertainment. Hopefully more residents will come out and enjoy your last concert of the season on Sunday, Sept. 7. We have this gem in our community and it is appreciated.

I would like to send a bouquet to all the staff at Northwoods Place the assisted living/rehab facility, for the wonderful picnic they put on for their grand re-opening. They had wonderful food, games for the kids, and tours of the facility. All the staff were friendly and helpful and it made for an enjoyable afternoon. Thank you.

A big thank you to all the families of the Arnold/McKnight family reunion for your donation to Perspectives Adult Care Center in honor of Arnold Eagle from your 50/50 raffle. Your kindness and generosity are greatly appreciated! God Bless all of you!

Each Saturday the Daily Press salutes individuals and groups from our area who have had a very positive impact on the way we live.

We identify our bouquet recipients in one of two ways: from Daily Press news pages and from nominations sent in by our readers.

Mail us a postcard or letter identifying your nomination and putting into detail what they’ve done. Include your name, address, and phone number. Send nominations to Saturday Bouquets, The Daily Press, 600 Ludington Street, Escanaba, MI 49829.

They may also be sent to us by going to our Web site, www.dailypress.net, and clicking on the submit news button. Once there, click on “Bouquets” and follow the simple instructions.
